A Fall Full of Healthy Smiles

Beall-Dental-Lagrange-Fall-Healthy-Smile

Along with the change of seasons, fall brings several fun festivities and flavors. Between tailgating drinks and bites, pumpkin spice lattes, numerous sweets and more, you’re more prone to dental issues such as tooth decay and gum disease. This fall, our team at Beall Dental Center wants to help keep your smile bright and healthy. Check out these four tips to enjoy seasonal favorites without compromising your dental hygiene.

1. Focus on Balance and Moderation

You don’t need to completely cut out your favorite seasonal drinks and snacks, but it is recommended to focus on balance and moderation. Try to select a time to dig into the sweets and then afterward, rinse with mouthwash or water to remove any leftover sugar. There are also numerous fall-themed snacks that provide a healthy alternative, as can be seen on tip number two!

2. Opt for Teeth-Friendly Alternatives

There are plenty of fall foods that are not only great for your oral health but are also delicious! Opting for teeth-friendly foods can protect your smile from potential dental problems. Instead of reaching for the sweets for a snack, try some of these fall favorites:

  • Apples
  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • Cheese
  • Cranberries
  • Kale

3. Maintain a good dental hygiene routine

No matter the season, it is always important to keep up your dental routine. Properly brushing and flossing becomes especially necessary when consuming sugary foods and drinks during the fall. Remember to brush your teeth for two minutes, twice daily and floss at least once daily. This will help keep the plaque at bay and remove any leftover residue that could potentially lead to tooth decay and gingivitis.

4. Schedule your routine dental cleaning

With fall trips, school activities, sports and more, it can be a hectic season but you shouldn’t put off a dental cleaning. If it has been more than six months since your last visit, we recommend scheduling an appointment at Beall Dental Center. These routine cleanings are vital in keeping your teeth healthy and catching any signs of oral cancer.

The Beall Dental Center team is ready to help your smile this fall! Schedule an appointment at our LaGrange office and let us care for your teeth.
